Top Signs that a Relationship is Unhealthy

Top signs that a relationship is unhealthy. Some relationships are fantastic, but some are downright toxic, and you must know what kind of relationship you are in.

An unhealthy relationship is usually due to bad traits of the person you are with, or perhaps it is simply that your personalities do not mesh well together.

An unhealthy relationship is not a good one, and it’s best to get out of it sooner rather than later.

Let’s look at the top signs that a relationship is unhealthy, allowing you to bail before things get too intense.

You Argue All The Time

The occasion argument is fine, all couples have disagreements, but you should know when it is too much to handle. If you seem to be arguing on pretty much, a daily basis and your partner almost appears to look for reasons to argue, this is not a great sign.

A relationship should have more good times than bad, and if the arguments are taking over from you being able to enjoy one another’s company, it might not be worth the hassle.

There is a lot of jealousy – Top Signs that a Relationship is Unhealthy

Jealousy in a relationship is not good, and it is often a sign of big insecurities. If your partner is continuously jealous, questioning everyone you speak to, and even going through your phone to try and find “evidence” of something going on, this is very controlling behavior and something you need to get away from.

Some people like this will even be jealous of your family members/friends. The next step after jealousy comes from isolation. He/she will try to isolate you from the people you care about so they can have you all to themselves.

Don’t let it get this far; leave this unhealthy relationship when you notice the signs of intense jealousy brewing.

They Belittle You

One sign of an unhealthy relationship is them constantly putting you down. This could seem jokey at first, and they might even make you feel ridiculous for being offended but have no doubt that this belittling is meant with cruel intent.

This behavior could include calling you names, making you feel stupid, or feeling like you did everything wrong. They often step this up by belittling you in front of other people to try and embarrass you.

This does not show respect for you as a partner, and this kind of behavior will only get worse if you do not stand up for yourself or, ideally, leave.

They Have a Lot of Mood Swings, a sign of an unhealthy relationship

If your partner gets angry over every little thing and has an intense mood, this is a sign that they are a very volatile person. Everybody has days where they get a little irritable but screaming at you and getting furious over things that are not a big deal, is not normal!

These mood swings might start as mean words but could soon involve getting violent towards you verbally or physically.

Top signs that a relationship is unhealthy – They deflect responsibility for their actions.

When you call them out on how they are treating you, they deflect the behavior back onto you or makeup excuses for how they act (i.e., blaming it on their childhood or something that happened in a previous relationship.)

Somebody who cared about you would own up for their mistakes and try to change, but a deflection of behavior is the final sign that you are in a toxic relationship and need to get out.
