Spring means baseball, seafood, and golf. Holidays Lounge is ready to help plan your next Florida vacation.
The team at Holidays Lounge has put together a list of events coming to the St. Petersburg area of Florida this spring.
First up is the Firestone Grand Prix, when the downtown area of St. Pete is transformed into an Indy Car racetrack for a few days in March. Watch the drivers complete the 14-turn course through the streets at speeds of up to 170 mph. They’ll pass the Mahaffey Theatre, Dali Museum, and the runways of Albert Whitted Airport while sneaking careful glances at the city’s waterfront. The Grand Prix will be held March 10 through 12th.
Holidays Lounge invites guests to attend the Tampa Blues Festival, the weekend of April 9th through 11th. Held in Vinoy Park, along the beautiful downtown St. Petersburg waterfront. The blues music floats through the air as local restaurants prepare tasty treats including seafood, barbecue, and Cuban cuisine. Vendors at the festival will be showing their arts and crafts and there will be beer and wine available as well.
Spring brings Highland games and festivals to many cities around the world, but the ones in Dunedin are exceptional. The town itself was founded by two Scotsmen in the 1800s and is full of Scottish pride. With all of the traditional dancing, pipe bands, and competition, you’ll feel as though you traveled to Scotland for the festival. Food, music, and souvenir shopping are all available as well.
St. Pete and Holidays Lounge are always excited when spring training time comes around. The Philadelphia Phillies and the Toronto Blue Jays head south each year for Spring Training and stay in the area through March. No matter where your baseball loyalties lay, there really isn’t anything like watching a nice, relaxed game of preseason baseball.
The other sporting event Holidays Lounge draws attention to in the St. Petersburg area this spring is the PGA Golf Valspar Championship. The tournament is played March 6th through 12th at the Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor. Copperhead is ranked as the highest course in Florida and 144 PGA Tour golfers will be in attendance. The event benefits many local area charities and is an exciting way to spend a day at the golf course.
