Editorial Policy

Last updated: May 22, 2026

Totes Newsworthy is an independent online publication covering wellness, food, lifestyle, and the influencer economy. Our editorial standards exist to keep our reporting accurate, useful, and accountable to our readers.

Our mission

We help readers cut through hype and headlines on topics that affect daily life — what to eat, how to live well, and how the creator economy is reshaping work, culture, and consumption. We prioritize stories that combine practical guidance with real reporting over rewrites of press releases.

Editorial independence

Totes Newsworthy is editorially independent. No advertiser, sponsor, affiliate partner, or business relationship influences which stories we publish, how we report them, or the conclusions we reach. Editorial decisions are made by the editorial team based solely on news judgment and reader value.

When a story touches on a company we have a business relationship with (affiliate, advertising, or partnership), we disclose that relationship in the story.

How we report

Every article on Totes Newsworthy is created or supervised by a named human editor or writer. We do not publish anonymous articles. Bylines link to author pages with credentials, areas of expertise, and contact information.

For each substantive story, we:

  • Verify primary sources. We link to original studies, official statements, regulatory filings, court documents, or first-person accounts whenever possible — not to other news sites that link to them.
  • Cite specific evidence. Claims about research, statistics, or quotes from public figures are attributed and dated.
  • Disclose limits. When a topic is contested, emerging, or based on limited evidence, we say so in the article. We do not present preliminary research as settled science.
  • Respect expertise. Health, nutrition, finance, and legal topics are framed as journalism, not as personalized advice. We recommend that readers consult qualified professionals for individual decisions.

Use of AI

Some draft research and outlining work is assisted by AI tools. Every published article is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by a human editor before publication. AI is not used to generate quotes, fabricate sources, or produce articles without human authorship.

When an article relies substantively on AI-assisted analysis (for example, large-scale data summarization), we say so in the article.

Sourcing standards

  • Primary sources first. Whenever possible, we link to and quote from the original document, paper, interview, or statement.
  • Named sources preferred. We use anonymous sources only when the information is in the public interest, cannot be obtained another way, and the source’s reliability has been established by the editor.
  • No paid sources. We do not pay sources for information or interviews.
  • Conflicts of interest disclosed. When a source has a financial or personal stake in the story, we disclose it.

Corrections and updates

We correct material errors of fact promptly and transparently. See our Corrections Policy for the full procedure.

Articles are updated to reflect significant new developments. When we update an article materially, the article shows a “Last updated” date and, where the change is substantive, a brief note describing what changed.

We do not silently rewrite published articles. If a claim is wrong, we correct it on the record.

Reader feedback and complaints

Readers can flag errors, request corrections, or raise editorial concerns at editorial [at] totesnewsworthy [dot] com. The editor reviews every message and responds within 5 business days.

Diversity in coverage and sourcing

We aim to cover the full breadth of communities our readers come from, and to seek out sources whose voices have historically been underrepresented in mainstream wellness and lifestyle coverage.

Funding and ownership

Totes Newsworthy is independently owned and operated. Revenue comes from display advertising, affiliate partnerships, and direct reader support. We disclose advertising and affiliate relationships within the relevant articles.

We do not accept funding from sources that would influence editorial coverage.

Ethics

Our full standards on conflicts of interest, gifts, and outside work are set out in our Ethics Policy.
