DALLAS, May 2, 2016 – Wholesale Inventory Network says that there are several Chicago summer events that fit into any vacation time period. Grant Park Music Festival – These ten weeks of free classical concerts at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park is the nation’s only free, outdoor classical music series of its kind. Outdoor concerts began in Chicago in the 1930s and have grown in popularity throughout the decades. Most concerts are preceded by a lecture in the Family Fun Tent. July 4th features a 110-voice National Youth Choir of Scotland, accompanied by the Chicago Youth Symphony for a patriotic evening.
Millennium Park Music Series – Beginning June 6th and running through August, almost every Monday and Thursday brings a free outdoor concert to the park. All concerts are held at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and begin at 6:30pm. Some of the headliners include Heritage Blues Orchestra, Sinkane, Azymuth, and Eddie Palmieri Salsa Orchestra. Music is a great way to meet new people and enjoy a relaxing evening with old friends.
Navy Pier Summer Fireworks – Navy Pier has been a choice destination for tourists and locals alike since 1916. The rich history of the pier, located on Lake Michigan it is full of attractions. Over 50 acres of parks, gardens, shops, exhibitions, restaurants, and family attractions make it one of the top destinations in the Midwest. Twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays from Memorial Day through Labor Day, a big attraction is a fireworks show. The show can be viewed from the dock or aboard an evening cruise and is the perfect way to end a day in Chicago.
Chicago Summer Dance – This summer, the Spirit of Music Garden in Grant Park turns into an urban dance space worth of the Chicago name. Over 40 different live bands provide the music and dance lessons beforehand prepare new dancers for the floor. Chicago artist Dan Peterman designed this open-air, 4,900-square-foot dance floor. This free event runs from late June to early September.
