Top Home Remedies for Everyday Ailments

If you suffer from irritating little health issues that are not extreme enough to make you see a doctor, here are some home remedies for everyday ailments.

For example, if you have a cough, try a spoonful of honey as sugar molecules are known to help soothe a sore throat. You can also give a hot shower a try as the steam will help loosen any irritant that has traveled down your throat and will act as a lubricant.

Finally, if you have turmeric and ginger in your pantry, grind a pinch of each together, add a half cup of water and gargle. The anti-inflammatory properties in both spices should combine to help stop that cough.

Many people complain about chapped lips both in the summer and winter times. Many times chapped lips are not due to any extreme weather but instead due to a lack of humidity. For example, if you breathe through your mouth while you are sleeping, your lips will lose most of their moisture.

The easiest fix for this situation is to keep a humidifier going wherever you sleep. Using coconut oil on your lips will also keep them soft and moisturized. Other over the counter products also work, but most dermatologists recommend that you wet your lips with warm waters before applying products with paraffin wax to get the best effect.

In today’s fast-paced and stressful world, another common ailment that many people suffer from is tension headaches. Researchers are not sure why, but for some reason, both hot and cold remedies work for tension headaches.

So depending on your preference, you can use either a warm compress or a cold one, wrapped in a towel and placed on your neck, your forehead or at your temples. Also, research has shown that for some people drinking one cup of black coffee can be as effective in relieving a stress headache as taking over the counter medicines.

Laying down and relaxing your entire body in a dark room has also been proven to reduce the severity of stress headaches significantly.
