The Best Way to Explore The Strip in Las Vegas This Summer

The best way to explore The Strip in Las Vegas this summer. Regular Vegas visitors and first-timers alike are attracted to the bright lights, the constant entertainment, and the flow of people that makes up the Strip. Unparalleled by any other city in America, and possibly the world, navigating through the crowds and making sure to hit the important attractions takes some skill, or following these tips.

Objects are farther than they appear

The Strip is four miles long and because the buildings appear super close together, the distance between them is deceiving. Use walkways inside and out when possible. Consider the Monorail to get someplace quickly. Air conditioned walkways stretch from Bally’s to Paris, Bellagio to Vdara, and Excalibur to Luxor to Mandalay Bay. The Monorail stops at seven places along the strip, and a common jaunt is from Mirage to Treasure Island.

Be flexible in dinner plans

Plan to eat early or late, to avoid the lines, especially at buffets. The prime eating time is from 6pm to 8pm, and the lines are crazy at that point. Buffet lines are especially packed during these times, which make for a stressful meal. Eat before 6 or after 8:30 for an enjoyable, peaceful meal.

Ride-share

Cab lines are heavily monitored, and they can get long. Be sure to leave enough time to get to your destination while including a potential wait for a cab. Allow at least 30 minutes for a cab, and up to an hour during peak meal times. If leaving a big event, it could take up to two hours for a cab, which is where sharing a cab with others could be handy.  If someone is going to the same place, or close enough, share a cab with them. Save a little bit of money and time.

Be flexible

Not everything is going to go according to plan, and that is part of the fun! Keep an open mind to new experiences, watch how others are enjoying themselves, and take lots of pictures! You’ll want to cherish the memories (and with digital you can delete the ones you don’t want to cherish) and roll with the punches. Tickets sell out, reservations can be mixed up, and Big Bird may shun you for not paying his asking price, but all-in-all you’d have to try really hard to not enjoy a Vegas vacation.
