Primetime Vacations Specials is planning a trip for its members to Denver, Colorado.
The Rocky Mountain state offers families and singles a potpourri of activities and events to participate in. Although the Rocky Mountains are a well-known staple amongst those who dream of a trip to Denver, particularly hikers, there are other attractions this western city offers.
An Underwater Adventure, is the perfect stop for families or anyone who find sea life intriguing. Located downtown, which is a mixture of western and urban chic style, this Aquarium consists of two ecosystem areas and self-guided tours. Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park will provide travel club members and their families who may be fans of roller-coasters, will find hours of thrills and a choice of many rides.
Newest among the bunch is a ride that lifts riders 17 stories high. This Star Flyer presents expansive views of the mountains and Denver skyline. Touted as the only ride of this type in the United States, The Half Pipe sends its riders up a tall half pipe at 60 mph. It only lasts 60 seconds but it packs a real punch leaving an intense memory. Another ride, XLR9R is the highest free fall swing in the world.
The Mind Eraser is the ultimate ride for thrill seekers due to the suspension coaster that goes up 10 stories and then suddenly plummets toward the ground at a rate of 60 mph. Water World is a 64-acre water park that offers some major waterslides for visitors from Primetime Vacations Specials. Whether it is The Zoomerang, a huge half pipe water slide that lifts 4 stories high and then plunges over part of the freeway, to the Screamin Mini that has its riders going down a 50-foot track at a speed of 30 mph. The Lakeside amusement park, founded in 1908, is a wonderful mix of retro architecture fused into modern times.
Members of Primetime Vacations Specials who are inclined to study history will find many interesting and educational landmarks to visit. Denver Millennium Bridge is a contemporary style suspension bridge located in the heart of the city. In Lower Downtown section of Denver, also known as LoDo, there are various statues and landmarks to view. This area consists of 29 blocks of restaurants, bars, stores and preserved historic buildings. Larimer Square features 19th Century buildings. One historic landmark in the Mile High City is Union Station. Besides being a transportation mecca, it is a popular gathering spot for shopping and dining.
Opportunities abound for visitors to explore culture and nature in Denver. The Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Denver Art Museum, and Denver Botanic Gardens. At this art museum they actually encourage visitors who are so inclined to bring their sketchpads and colored pencils to draw pictures of the artwork at the site. Even more unusual is their policy to allow photographers to take snapshots of the artwork and exhibits.
For those Primetime Vacations Specials members who are artistically gifted or even for novice sketchers and photographers, this is a great opportunity. You may find your work displayed at the museum one day. At the Denver Botanic Gardens you will find 24 acres of native, very exotic, and also xeric flowers and plants displayed. Also, there is a tropical rain forest as well as other delightful exhibits. As an added bonus, the young children of the travel club members will be surprised to learn of the Mordecai Children’s Garden. This structure is a respite for children to learn as they play.
Those members who are looking for what attractions are available for thrill seekers,
