Health Benefits of Garlic

Garlic is one of the most prestigious culinary herbs that exist, but it is also one of the herbs that has shown a proven health tonic.
Eating one or two cloves of garlic a day can keep you away from doctors because their health benefits are real!

Interestingly, while garlic is often described as an herb or spice, it is not any of them. Garlic grows underground as a bulb and germinates in green shoots. It is more accurate to call the garlic a vegetable rather than an herb, and in fact, belongs to the allium vegetable family, along with onions and leeks.

This is where its health benefits start because allium vegetables are known for their bad smell (and garlic is often known as the “fragrant flower”). Its unique smell comes from sulfur-containing compounds such as allicin, which has many health-promoting effects.
Studies have shown the effects of garlic on more than 160 different diseases.

In general, health benefits of garlic are divided into four main categories:

  1. Reduce inflammation (reduces the risk of osteoarthritis and other diseases related to inflammation)
  2. Boost immune function (antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and antiparasitic)
  3. Improve cardiovascular health and circulation (protects against coagulation, retards the plate, improves lipids and lowers blood pressure)
  4. Toxic to 14 types of cancer cells (including brain, lung, breast, gastric and pancreatic)
