Holidays Lounge Explores Holidays in New York City

Holidays Lounge presents the best of NYC over the Christmas holiday.

There is just something about a snow covered Central Park and brightly decorated Rockefeller Center that makes Christmas come alive in New York City. Holidays Lounge is ready to help make this Christmas season the most memorable yet. Consider adding some of these New York City traditions to the itinerary for the next trip to the Big Apple.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade officially brings the Christmas holiday to New York City. Santa is then a permanent fixture in the store and the rest of the city joins in the celebration.

Bryant Park Winter Village boasts a 17,000 square-foot outdoor skating rink that is open to all for free as well as holiday shops. Over 120 shops including kiosks and great food places like Super Mac + Cheez are ready for those looking for a day out. Shop, skate, and then warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. Holiday vendors are on sight through January 3rd but the skating rink will be open through March 6th.

Sometimes just walking through city streets puts people in a festive mood. There is a lot of fun to be had window shopping during the holiday season in the Big apple. Holidays Lounge recommends spending sometime ogling the window displays on Fifth Avenue, outside stores like Macy’s and Barneys. The stores are full of some great holiday purchases, but for those who prefer to spend less, window shopping is the perfect alternative.

Nothing comes close to the Christmas celebrations in Rockefeller Center. Quite possibly the most famous and most visited Christmas Tree resides here, decorated with over 45,000 LED lights. Holiday activities surround this 78 foot, 10-ton Norway Spruce, including ice skating, a fabulous Lighting Ceremony, and the world-renowned Radio City Christmas Spectacular. This year’s Lighting Ceremony will take place on November 30th and will stay lit until January 7th, 2017.

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular celebrates another year with music, dancing, and the Rockettes. This is one of the most hallowed traditions and draws tourists and locals year after year. From a flying Santa to a massive LED screen, and the world-famous kick line of the Rockettes, there is nothing that isn’t celebrated during this show. Shows begin in early November and run through the 2nd of January and are the perfect way to create some lifelong memories.
