Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa is a notable luxury hotel that is nestled in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and is popular with tourists throughout the world.
Aside from its beaches, scuba diving, surfing, and other water sports, Cabo is home to many annual festivals and events. Some have already occurred but many are still on the docket.
Many new visitors may not associate Cabo with fishing, but sport fishing is extremely popular in this area of the world.
Some festivals just celebrate the fun of fishing while others are made into a competitive enterprise, with people visiting from far and wide to fish for bill fish like marlin and other large species of fish. In June, Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa guests are welcome to venture out and experience the Bacs Billfish Invitational Tournament located at Medano Beach in the marina, where actual fishing crews compete throughout the entire month. In the middle of that month a 3-day charity fishing event takes place called the Stars and Stripes Tournament.
July brings more special events for visitors staying at Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa to venture out and enjoy.
Anglers who compete for the largest fish do so in the early part of the month, in Surf and Panga Roosterfish Classic Tournament. Although any large fish is celebrated, the maximum prize is to catch a huge roosterfish. Later in the month downtown Cabo features a festival with costumed riders on horseback reenacting a Roman Catholic celebration called the Festival of St. James. This honors the Apostle St. James in the bible and is held in the Town Square. Also in July, through the entire country of Mexico, Fiesta of the Virgin of Carmen is held. Street traders sell their homemade crafts throughout Cabo. In the Toros Stadium is the venue for bullfights during this time. Fishing competitions also take place in the waterways.
August brings Los Cabos Dive Fiesta for scuba divers of all levels to come out and celebrate the water sport they love.
Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park is the scene for beach parties hosted at night. Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa guests vacationing in September will find Sea Turtle Rescue an engaging event. This time of year is when huge numbers of sea turtles come to nest on the beaches. Similar to the U.S. Fourth of July, this month brings Independence Day and festivities abound. Carnival floats, artisans trading their wares, and a rodeo are all part of the celebration.
Mid October offers several fun activities for visitors to enjoy.
A major fishing competition called Gold Cup Sport fishing Tournament takes place this time of year. Fishermen and women compete to catch the largest fish. Downtown Cabo San Lucas and Marina Boulevard is the site for Fiesta del Pilar. This carnival-like event features street vendors, music and dancing. November is time to honor the dearly departed during Day of the Dead or Day of the Saints as parades go down the street and people in costumes remember their deceased loved ones. More then 100 years ago the Mexican Revolution took place. In remembrance, the Mexican people hold rodeos, bullfights, play music, and end with fireworks to top off the evening.
December features Cabo Jazz Escape, for Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa guests who are jazz enthusiasts.
Sunset Beach is the venue for this musical extravaganza that culminates with a display of fireworks. For vacationers to this resort that want to explore what is in Cabo, no matter what month they choose, a festival or special event can provide them with a unique window into the Mexican culture and history.
