Google and the Very Bad April Fools’ Prank. Google’s annual April Fools’ Day joke was a total disaster. Allegedly, it cost people jobs and interviews.
Did you miss it? Google’s prank for this year was a “Mic Drop” button that would give the user “the last word on any e-mail” by automatically adding a gif of the popular minions.

Well, as it turns out, placing a joke button next to a frequently used button (Send button) resulted in people clicking on the joke one — even by accident. For some Gmail users, they unknowingly added a character from the animated “Minions’’ movies characters dropping a microphone.

People quickly took to the Internet to complain.
One of the users, Abdus Salam, wrote:
“This mic drop is perhaps the most stupid thing you could possibly come up with. I have been interviewing with this company for 3 months now and mistakenly sent the email directly to guess who? The HR! Why would you do that? I so want this job; was due to start on Monday!”.
Google took to its blog after taking down the feature.

Why Google went ahead with the catastrophic prank??!!
