There was a huge gesture of compassion from a group of students from a Nashville Christian school sang to their teacher Ben Ellis, who is battling cancer. These four hundred students attend Christ Presbyterian Academy, showed how much they care for their teacher by singing songs to him outside of his home.
Ben Ellis has been struggling with fighting an extremely aggressive type of cancer. This illness has not stopped his involvement at school, and up until the last week he had been attending work regularly while dealing with his radiation and chemotherapy treatments. According to sources, last week Ellis received bad news and had decided to stay in his house for the time being. The children jumped at the chance to show their teacher just how much they care about him and went to his home to worship along with him in his time of need.
Tim McGraw posted this video of Ellis enjoying his impromptu worship service and singing “Holy Spirit You Are Welcome Here” along with his students. Since McGraw has posted this video, there have been over 18 million views making this an internet sensation. The world can always appreciate when a community comes together to make the world a better place. These high school kids could not let their teacher sit on the sidelines without reaching out and letting him know that they love him.
Everyone that attends this Christian academy is touched in some way or another by Ben Ellis’s presence and life struggle. Ben is a father of five, who is a devoted husband and a role model in the community. Ellis has a long road ahead of him with some tough choices, but he has the love and support of an entire community to help him along. These stories prove that there are still amazing people in the world and that life is not as dark when there is friends and family there to support.
